Welcome to UKCpits home of the A.P.B.T. My main goal is to change peoples peception of Pitbulls across the world. A pitbull is no different than any other dog breed on the planet. The better the owner, the better the dog. It takes a calm assertive person to raise a dog in a correct manner. Its up to the owner to be responsible not only for their actions, but also the actions of their dog. There has been negative publicity about Pit bulls in recent years, not due to the actual behavior of the American Pit Bull Terrier, but do to misbreeding of different types of "pit bull like" terriers with the intent of making tough guard dogs. Because of the similarity in looks of some of these "pit bull" terriers, the pit bull in general has unfairly been labeled as mean, untrustworthy and actually restricted and banned in some parts of the world. Many of these instances stemmed from bad owners that mistreated and practically starved their dogs to make them mean, rather than the dog being mean itself.
Owners of the American Pit Bull Terrier dispute these allegations. In all reality American Pit Bull terriers are wonderful, intelligent, loving dogs. With proper discipline and obedience training Pit Bulls make remarkable family pets for all ages.
